Halloween 1997

This was the first Halloween I dressed up for in many, many years. I decided to be a skeleton, but I'm not quite skinny enough to pull it off without some extra help. I purchased the standard skeleton costume from a local store and a drape hood. The skull mask is a thin latex piece that you paint and then glue to your face. I used latex glue which sticks quite well, but you need to use a lot. The good thing about it, is that it peels off easily when your done. Painting the mask took a while. I worked on it for about 4 hours over three days to get it right. When I was done with the mask, I washed it in warm soapy water and the make-up comes right off. I put it back in the plastic form it came in and it's ready for use again. I think that drawing the bones on my hands was a nice touch. The down side was that I managed to get that makeup on everything, clothes, door handles, steering wheel, etc... Click on each image to view the larger version.
My daughter, Rabecca was a witch, so I think we made a good pair. When we went looking for her costume, we found mine. I decided what to be pretty quickly, but Becca could not decide what she wanted to be. We tried, witches, princesses, mermaids, and usual popular cartoon characters. Becca's Mom finally was able to get Rabecca to choose what she wanted to be.
